AMD Naples will be manufactured by GlobalFoundries to a 14nm FinFET lithography supporting x86 instructions, providing independent support for 8-channel memory with 128 PCI-Express 3.0 lines. In terms of storage, it will be able to handle simultaneously up to 32 SATA or NVME drives. In the section of network it integrates a controller that supports up to 16 Ethernet connections 10Gb. It will also use the P3 LGA server socket and will be available for both servers and business environment with models that depart between a modest 35W TDP to a maximum of 180W TDP for the fastest ones.
AMD Zen server processors with 2, 4, 16 and 32 cores will be coming in 2017, with a possibility of very late 2016 introduction. According to CEO of AMD, the desktop version will come first, followed by server, notebook and finally embedded.
